Bad Art I Am Compelled To Share

Friday, March 10, 2006

This is my picture for Illustration Friday, the theme is tattoo. "Tattoo" was drawn on a scrap of multi-purpose copy paper then cleaned up and colored in Photoshop.

American TV in the late 70's and early 80's kicked ass! It was so hedonistic. Hedonistic with a dash of morality, just enough morality so that we didn't feel guilty about our hedonism.

Do you have a tattoo? Do you love me?

  • i was hooked watching american series during that time....

giving you so much love for this wonderful tattoo. this is not bad art.

    By Blogger isay, at 12:51

  • I remember him! Outstanding! It looks just like him!

    By Blogger Jaimie, at 12:56

  • Cool drawing! Herve was such a cute little guy :)

PS: Rumor has it that Tattoo had a tattoo across his back that said "I love the Unknown". No one knew what it meant until today....

By Blogger katat0nik (JaneKL), at 12:58

  • I was soooo tempted to do the same thing, but I guess that I didn't need to worry about it. You did a fine job without my interference, great likeness dude !

    Here'z some luv...

    By Blogger steve, at 13:37

  • Thanks so much! This is the best laugh I've had all week. I used to watch this show all the time and wonder why he never had a fantasy that he was tall. Great likeness! love

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 13:46

  • I was WAITING for someone to do this...should of known it would be you. You are so cool. Great illo.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 14:07

  • great job… i, too, thought about doing it… I'm glad you did!

By Blogger Michael O'Connell, at 14:52

  • no tatoo but I love you!

    By Blogger ValGalArt, at 15:13

  • I loved 70's and 80's TV.
No tattoo here either, and do you still have to ask....yes I love you!

    By Blogger Janet, at 15:35

  • Great caricature.

    By Anonymous Giles, at 15:39

  • isay: Me too!
    Thanks. (blush)

jaimie: Thanks. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out too.

    katat0nik(janekl): Ha, ha!
He did have that tattoo but it was across his butt.

steve: Thanks. I'm hoping I'm the first to get it out there. I know I'm not the only one to think of this.

    cocos: Thanks! HA! Good question!

    andrea edwards: I'm cool? :-)

    michael o'connell: Phew!

    valgalart: :-)

janet: Heh, heh. Yes, I have to ask. It's now part of my identity. ;-p

    giles: Wow! Thanks!

By Blogger The Unknown, at 15:54

  • De tattoo, de tattoo. Not on me but maybe on you.

Couldn't help myself but I said it with love. teehee

By Blogger Teri C, at 16:08

  • teri c: Ha!
Actually I have no tattoos. I change my mind too much to have something forever on my body. :-)

By Blogger The Unknown, at 16:22

  • Smiles everyone...smiles.

By Blogger Brian the Mennonite, at 16:43

  • *heart* that show totally creeped me out... thanks for bringing back the memories....

By Blogger Princess Pepper Cloud, at 17:04

  • brian the mennonite: Hee, hee. I forgot about that line. Good one. :-)

    princess pepper cloud: You're welcome??

By Blogger The Unknown, at 17:46

  • OMG. Oh. Now why didn't I think of that "Tattoo". I nearly spit my drink out at the monitor. Thanks for the laugh.

    By Blogger Shano, at 20:43

  • I have many! And I change everyday... Your Tattooooo is sooo nice. But I preferred Ricardo... HEH HEH...

    By Blogger merlinprincesse, at 21:03

  • This one makes no sense to me, I must be missing the cultural reference... never mind... love anyway!

    By Blogger Caroline, at 02:44

  • I was thinking of giving Ricardo Montalban a tattoo of Hervé Villechaize but figured that may take too long.

Anyway, much love on this one.

    By Blogger Lou, at 05:10

  • Cool self-portrait in previous post. I too can experience similar effects when really stuck into making a picture, often after two hours of thinking 'nothing's happening aaarrrrrggghhh.'
Herve looks quite suave. We had the Goodies in the '70's. I've got a black & white (pink) sunburst celtic knot tattoo on right shoulder, same as one seen in an episode of Spaced.

    By Blogger modroom, at 09:38

  • shano: Thanks. That's the kind of reaction I like to hear about. :-)

    merlinprincesse: You tattooed? Hmm...
Ricardo Montalban was pretty hot and in Wrath of Kahn he was chiselled!

caroline: Yeah, I knew I would lose a few on this one. If you want to know what I'm talking about try this link HERE!

lou: Originally my idea was to put this on someones arm but it turned out looking better than I expected so, I decided not to mess with it and thanks.

modroom: HA! I'm sorry to say I look nothing like Herve Villechaize. I remember the Goodies. I freaking loved them!

By Blogger The Unknown, at 10:21

  • Sarcasm? Yes, love.

HV as Tattoo, clever! I like how your mind works!!!

    By Blogger phinner, at 10:48

  • Nice likeness to Tattoo. Wondering if he is the 'original mini-me'?

BTW; my first lp I bought out of my pocket was Steppenwolf. Did I just age myself?

    By Blogger AscenderRisesAbove, at 11:18

  • phinner: Yes I thought so, my sarcastic comment was meant to be sarcasm. :-)

ascenderrisesabove: I know he was the insperation for mini-me!
Ha! No, you did not age yourself. The fact that you're old ages you. :-)

By Blogger The Unknown, at 12:14

  • Love Boat and Fantasy Island back to back!!!! Lots of Love!!!

By Blogger Joy Eliz, at 12:30

  • Loving your take on the "Tattoo" theme

By Anonymous Lost Aussie, at 12:55

  • Tattoo may want to consider english a second language, but, charisma, and his suave demeanor go a long way, LOL SHARP!

    By Blogger HARDWAX, at 12:57

  • joy eliz: Lets not forget Charlies Angels and the A Team!

    lost aussie: :-)

hardwax: Yeah, poor guy had a rough time dealing with life.

    By Anonymous Paula, at 05:46

  • Great take on tattoo, well I'm from Finland, but do have watched a bunch of American TV shows and kind of agree with you. I am so happy that some things have changed from those days also in the Finnish TV-world.

I do not have a tattoo, only seven stitches in my skull since I was five and I love you.

    By Blogger Katili, at 07:16

No tattoos on my side. And about the love part, I think about it. I am German. We need to do loads of thinking before we distribute love ;)

(Now, if someone could explain that "de plane, de plane" thing, I´d be happy...
