The Empire Never Ended
This picture is called "The Empire Never Ended". It was drawn on a scrap of multi-purpose copy paper then cleaned up and colored with Photoshop. I have been reading the book "VALIS" by Philip K. Dick. The book is considered science fiction but really the story is about one mans quest to grasp the nature of reality. Anyhow one of the phrases that are repeated to the main character over and over is, "The Empire Never Ended". It's all very Big Brother like and since I'm a little paranoid anyway I find it fascinating. (Put this thought aside for a moment.)
Yesterday I went to eat lunch at this funky little cafe called Dots. I like the place because it's fun to watch all the hip, neo-gothic, thirty something people that hang out there, there's a good vegetarian menu and lots of cool kitsch all over the place. I'm very tactile. I love to pick things up so I can feel them as well as look at them. So a place with lots of odd little goodies to play with is heaven for me.
I sit down and on a shelf next to me is this weird looking diary. I pick it up and open it somewhere near the center to see what, if anything, has been written there. What was there was a pyramid much like the one above and underneath the pyramid was written... "The Empire Never Ended"!
Suddenly, all them hip, neo-gothic, thirty something people seemed to be staring at me. Suddenly I lost my appetite. Suddenly I feel like I'm living in a Philip K. Dick novel. Aren't these the kinds of events that make people on the edge slip into insanity I find myself thinking? This of course makes things seem even more like a Philip K. Dick novel. Someone get me out of here! I don't want to be written this way! I want to write my own story!
Are you paranoid? Too paranoid to leave some love?

Me paranoid? Never...Why do you say that. You are watching me aren't you. You and your little strange blogger friends... Always looking... and watching... And coming to watch me on my blog. Arghhhhhh!
Paranoid Love.

Pathetic earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void, without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe, anything at all, you would've hidden from it in terror.
Just a thought....

I agree with catnapping. There's something very Big Brotherish about your drawing. Can I solicit shamelessly for people to visit the BoB awards site? (If I could write VOTE FOR ME in some subliminal way I would, but hell, just vote for your favourite!)

I would like to shamelessly solicit unknown to please visit my blog!

Drink more coffee! It makes you invisible! That's why I'm never paranoid, I'm invisible. Have you seen the 22 love left I put on that page? That's because I drink coffee and I'm invisible...
Invisible love

clo: Invisible!? I think you have had enough coffee. You should switch to tequilia. Then you can be invincible!
(I wrote love above but it was invisible.)

Never read any PKD, but perhaps you'd like Robert Anton Wilson! Particularly the Illuminatus Trillogy. Lots of pyramids with eyes in that one.. ;-)
By Chandira, at 15:57
'Valis'! Wow! I suppose you have also read 'The Divine Invasion' and more?
By Chuang Shyue Chou, at 17:10
chandira: I have read R.A.W. Why do you think I am so paranoid! :-)
love
chuang shyue chou: Yeah, I've read just about everything by PKD. A lot of it more than once. He's one of my favs.

More on the Empire that never ended...
I've just been reviewing my journals for last year...
On 27th May I wrote about the similarity of Rome and its empire and the current state of the world and the US... this is not something I normally write about at all!
That night I dreamt of a leg with an Egyptian eye drawn on it. (Again not a common dream for me...)
On 30th May the little boy next door had a transfer of an Egyptian eye on his arm. (Something I'd never seen on him before or since...)
Now I'd connected up the two eyes but had no idea that my unusual rambling on about Rome and the US was part of this synchronicity....
So what does this all mean? Is it some bizarre marketing program for the book you mentioned? I've never read it... do I need to read it now?
Help! Love!
By Caroline, at 06:33
caroline: This is how it all starts. Soon men in dark suits will be knocking on your door. Look Out! Heh, heh. Just kidding.
Actually what's weird is that everything is connected and normally we just don't see it. Then when we do start to see some of those connections it makes us a little panicky. At least it does me.
My advice relax drink some wine read the book. I don't know if the book will help but it's a good read. :-)
