Monster

These are my pictures for Illustration Friday. The theme is
Monster. Both pictures were drawn on a scrap of multi-purpose copy paper, then cleaned up and colored in Photoshop. The Sperm I drew this morning. The Monster I drew a few weeks ago is actually a doodle I did while watching the news. I hadn't planned on ever posting it, but since the subject came up I decided why not.

What makes a man become a monster? How could such a cute little sperm grow into such a beast?

I used to have a monster under my bed. He did himself in after the above monster got elected. Before he died he told me he just couldn't compete with the nightmares the above monster was gonna create.

Are you scared of monsters? Are you going to leave some love?

  • Wow, great caricatures and such simple lines, too. I have a feeling others share your sentiment this week...

  • Oh gosh, I could hardly wait to see what you would come up with!! There is so much more to this illo than at first glance--the philosophy is wonderful. Love to you!!

    By Blogger Teri, at 13:33

  • It's sad that this monster has been able to grow so large. Great job on both illustrations! Much love!

    By Blogger Lou, at 17:13

  • This reminds me of that cartoon where that baboon tried to get married. I can't remember what it was called but he was friends with a weasel... anyone?

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 18:36

  • Oh man, I am becoming such a fan of you.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 20:06

  • interesting how the sperm looks like the crazy neighbor, i thought there might be a connection between all these monsters. love always.

    By Blogger trj, at 23:53

  • Maybee it would have been better, if that monster had come down under your bed, I suppose. On the other hand - poor you!
The sperm is not guilty alone - you know. Couldn't you elect another monster? Oh - I know, that's not as simple as that.. I'm scared of monsters, if they're quite free and hungry! But we must take care of each other and send a little love out around the world - hugs from Denmark

  • To the point!
The frightening thing is that it seems he genuinly believes he is doing good...

    By Blogger CRISTOSOVA, at 03:50

  • Can sperm fly as well, those ears??
As far as I know sperm swims, maybe he just listens carefully ???
    Like.

    By Blogger Stipi, at 07:30

  • The lyrics of Bruce Cockburns song immediately came to mind when I saw your MONSTER:

    Call it Democracy

"Padded with power here they come International loan sharks backed by the guns Of market hungry military profiteers Whose word is a swamp and whose brow is smeared With the blood of the poor

Who rob life of its quality Who render rage a necessity By turning countries into labour camps Modern slavers in drag as champions of freedom

Sinister cynical instrument Who makes the gun into a sacrament -- The only response to the deification Of tyranny by so-called "developed" nations' Idolatry of ideology

North South East West Kill the best and buy the rest It's just spend a buck to make a buck You don't really give a flying fuck About the people in misery

IMF dirty MF Takes away everything it can get Always making certain that there's one thing left Keep them on the hook with insupportable debt

See the paid-off local bottom feeders Passing themselves off as leaders Kiss the ladies shake hands with the fellows Open for business like a cheap bordello

And they call it democracy And they call it democracy And they call it democracy And they call it democracy

See the loaded eyes of the children too Trying to make the best of it the way kids do One day you're going to rise from your habitual feast To find yourself staring down the throat of the beast They call the revolution

IMF dirty MF Takes away everything it can get Always making certain that there's one thing left Keep them on the hook with insupportable debt"

Sorry for all the words but I found them to be quite fitting.

    Love
