Corporate Toad

This whole thing started as a weird little doodle I did while waiting for my toast to pop up. (Did you notice the coffee stain?) It was one of those doodles where you put a bunch of random dots on a piece of paper and then connect the dots and see what it looks like. My random sketch looked like a big toad mouth and my toast wasn’t done yet, so I added some other stuff. I ended up liking it so much I decided to redo it as a watercolor and here is the result.
Here’s some bonus trivia about this watercolor; I painted it while I was naked. I just finished more yard work. (UGH!) When I finished with the yard and came in, a load of laundry was going; I didn’t feel like fighting for the hot water. I knew I would have about an hour so, I took of my filthy clothes, put a towel on the fool and started painting. I didn’t set out to paint naked but I liked it! It felt so bohemian. I think everyone should try it.

Do you ever paint naked? Do you want to leave me some love?

  • Did you end up having your toast, or did you become too distracted?

Kind of how I feel about painting naked. I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

I love the corporate toad! I have some food for him, if he ever runs out ;)

Also, connect the dots sounds like a fun way to create a painting - now *that* I will have to try!

Lots of love, as always! Give my best to the toad!

  • brian the mennonite: I had the toast right after I finished the doodle. Then it took me three days to complete the painted picture. I started it, didn't like how it was going and put it away for a day. Then did a little more, didn't like it and put it away again. Then after the yard work I just went for it and started slapping paint on the darn thing. For the most part I like the way it turned out.

  • Nice corporate frog. Never really thought about a frog in a corporate environment, I'll need to look around tomorrow and see if I see any in the halls.

Can't say I've ever drawn in the nude. I'm not sure who would be more bothered, my wife or kids. Maybe an upcoming IF topic will be fitting for this feat.

  • I never paint naked because I use an exacto knife quite a bit in my work and that could get dangerous, love. This is one of my favorite drawings of yours! Really great, love!

  • I paint naked quite often, it's awesome, I am very glad you dicovered it.

Dig the drawing. I think that frog looks like a boss I had. So it must be evil.
