Super Hero

This is my picture for Illustration Friday the theme is super hero. "Super Hero" was drawn on the back of the January 4 and January 12 pages of my "Get Fuzzy" desk calendar. I ran out of room while drawing and had to tape the two pieces of scrap paper together. Heh, heh... whoopsie. I drew the illustration with a Faber-Castle 3-H pencil, then inked it in with my Gel-Roller and colored it in PhotoStudio.

I can't believe I'm got this picture done just in time to have another Illustration Friday theme to think about, but today was my first day off in a while.

It was a good day. I slept in. When I finally got out of bed, I headed downtown to have a meal at my favorite restaurant.

After that I used the last of my Christmas gift cards. With one of cards I got the Eels "beautiful freak" and "Ole! Tarantula" by Robyn Hitchcock & the Venus 3. With the other gift card I bought a double soymilk mocha with no whip.

The caffeine must have got to me because when I got home I was all fidgety and thought it might be a good idea to drawn the idea I sketched out while riding the bus to rehearsal a few days ago.
Never draw while on the bus.

What else has happened lately?

Hey, did I tell you all we got some snow?!

Pepe didn't like it. Heh, heh.

I held auditions for the show I'll be directing. That was really fun and exciting, until I realized it means I have to be the guy to call people and say, "I'm sorry, you're not what I’m looking for."

Blah! I've been on the other end of that call way too many times. In fact, the last time I every went to an audition for a commercial was a horrible experience. I thought my audition was going fantastic. I had been called back three times to read the part and they seemed to really like me.

Then, a week later, I got a call and they told me, "We decided to go with someone else."

I was devastated, but as devastated as I became when I finally saw the commercial on TV and discovered the part I had been reading for had been given to a sock puppet. I was beaten by a sock puppet. A FUCKING SOCK PUPPET!

OK, I'm just realizing I shouldn’t have large doses of caffeine. I'm babbling like the town gossip. I better go.

Have you ever been beaten by a sock puppet? Have you left some love?

  • Hahaha! I like that illo, and the one you made in the bus is really fun too.

And I love the pic with Pepe. We can feel how he didn't like the snow. Funny!

When my daughter was a kid (she's now 12, but I still do that with her) I use to make her plush toy talk with her. There is a point where the kid (sometimes it work with grown up too) forget about you and is really talking to the plush toy. I guess that means I've been beaten by a sock puppet?

Maybe you should try to be the sock puppet? It's really fun...
