Bad Art I Am Compelled To Share

A Brisk Walk Towards Winter

Hmm... more trees, this painting just sort of happened. It's acrylics on canvas paper. It might be an interpretation of what my illustrator's soul is feeling, because I don't have the time to work on any bad art projects. Not like I want to anyway. So, if you've been agonizing over my lack of submissions, I apologize. I blame sleep. Sleep is the enemy. If I didn't sleep, I could find the time to work on some bad art.

Not much free time lately, but I have been blessed with an abundance of work over the last couple of months. October and November kicked my ass and it looks like December will do the same. My ass is getting sore, but I'm having a good time. Maybe I'm a masochist?

In any case, I feel somewhat guilty for going almost a month without posting anything and to make it up to you, my Loves, I'm going to show you all what I've been up to.

That's right! You're going to get a quick peek into the life of The Unknown!

Or at least a week of it. Enjoy!

A few Saturdays ago, in the afternoon, I was lucky enough to have a small role in the short film "Shame Gravy". "Shame Gravy" was filmed as a shootout for the city winners of this year's 48hour film festival. (I would tell you all to go watch the film and vote for us, but the website is all fucked up. The people I have sent to the site have yelled at me and said, "Man, that website is fucked up!" So, I’m not going to ask you to go there and vote for our film. Unless you think you're magic and the website won't be all fucked up for you. Don’t be a fool, go see the film here.)

Saturday evening I do a murder mystery show. These shows could be good, but the person running the company is unorganized and completely insane. The only way you can work for her, without going crazy yourself is by completely ignoring her, or by being a Zen Master of Chaos and follower of Eris, like I am. I keep working for her because it pays, there are a ton of shows this time of year, you get a free meal, (I know it's cliché, but actors never pass up a free meal.) and I have come to terms with the fact that every show will be one giant snafu.

On Sunday I relax, watch some football (Go Dolphins!) and go out to eat with Gorky.

The next day, around 2PM, I realize I've gotten food poisoning from the restaurant yesterday. For the next two days I'm sick as a dog and I miss three rehearsals.

I start to feel better Tuesday evening. That's also when I get a phone call from my seventeen-year-old son. It's the first time we've ever spoken to each other. I won't go into a lot of detail because it's personal, but I will say it's strange, fantastic, exciting, and awkward. He is a wonderful kid and I hope our relationship continues to grow. (I also hope he doesn't mind me putting his picture here.)

On Wednesday I get to sample different gin drinks as part of a research team, hoping to find the perfect signature drink for "Live Wire." I sample a few more than I should.

On Thursday it's, it's... "Live Wire" and the show kicks ass! (You can hear the show for yourself here!) This "Live Wire" gig is the best job I've ever had. I feel blessed and extremely lucky to be a part of the cast.
(Faces For Radio rock out.)

On Friday I do another murder mystery. This time the boss forgets to tell one of the actors there's a show scheduled. I roll my eyes and take a deep breath, while the boss tries to figure out how to do the show with one less character.

On Saturday evening I'm in a brainwaves show. (Improvisational comedy.) The show is a blast and it totally makes up for the disaster of a murder mystery I was in yesterday. Plus, I laugh so hard my jaw cramps and my head starts to throb. Thank God/dess for beer.

There you have it Loves, a glimpse at my typical workweek. I'm beat, but I should go draw a picture or something.

Are you looking forward to winter? Are you going to leave me some love?

  • Hell of a (lengthy) post, like sand through an hour glass, a few fuck ups in there as well. Not an ordinary life you lead?

  • Wow! It's a great privilege to see part of your life like this! I looked at "Shame gravy" and I don't believe how your interpretation of an eaten turkey is just amazing! You'll win an oscar for that!
