Bad Art I Am Compelled To Share

Under the Sea

Thanks to unpaid gambling debts,
And a few really bad bets,
Lefty would learn,
As his lungs began to burn,
His childhood dream of living under the sea,
Wasn't as cool as he thought it would be.

(To get the FULL experience from this post, please use your best snake oil salesman's voice while reading.) This here is my picture and poem for Illustration Friday, the theme is Under the Sea. "Under the Sea" was drawn on a scrap of multi-purpose copy paper, then cleaned up and colored in Photoshop. The bad art poem was written right here in the blog-o-sphere.

That's right Ladies and gentlemen, It's a two for one! Just imagine the technology it took to bring these two things together. Yet here they are right now for your enjoyment.

I know, I know... You're thinking to yourself, "Say, he's right. I did enjoy myself."

Well, if you act fast the warm gooshy feeling you have can continue.

Now you're thinking, "How is that possible?"

I tell you how! All you have to do is leave me a little old comment and then at the end of your comment say, *love*. That's all you have to do. You do that and I'll guarantee to come on over to your blog and leave at least two comments. On different posts of course, and providing it don't take me more that five minutes to read said post... And it's not one of them there blogs that won't let me leave a comment, like Deviant Art or MSN blogs, stuff like that... And don't expect my comments to appear instantly. I have a life for Pete's sake and the sun's been out. That's the reason I posting so late today. It was so beautiful out I just couldn't sit still long enough to get anything done.

Pardon me. I do believe I've gotten off track.

Just be sure to leave me some *love* and it's two for one! Act fast because this offer ends Monday, May 1 at midnight. My time zone a course. (Thank you for using your best snake oil salesman's voice. You can stop now.)

Do you love two for one? Do you want to leave some love for me?

  • I love you for free!

    By Blogger andrea, at 07:22

    a nice day out: Thanks.
I used to have an old 74 dodge van. I finally donated it to the Goodwill because no one would buy it and that's when gas was cheap. Good Luck.

carra: I love Poe! Thanks for the comparison. :-)

    tiffinix: Gosh, thanks! :-)
    We aim to please.

joy eliz: Thank God/dess you don't have to pick a favorite like you do with your kids. ;-)

    littlekika: Well, there's always hope.

andrea: What? No threats. Just a hard sale. :-)

    scarecrow: :-)

valgalart: Ha! I was trying to shed my soft image. :-)

  • I always felt being underwater was an unnatural state of being for us humans. Give me dry land, even for a burial.

By Blogger Robert McLaughlin, at 11:31

  • I love the water even though it scares me.
I'm going for cremation. I don't need to take up any more space after I'm dead.

By Blogger The Unknown, at 11:43

  • Yessirree, step right up ('less yer wearin' ceement overshoes)... Looks like someone took advantage of the two-for-one bags 'o' cement deal down at the builders supply... but poor Lefty won't be enjoying the second part of the buy one/get one free tie purchase he made yesterday. Love the poem, love the drawing.

    Peace and love.

    By Blogger Twisselman, at 11:48

  • The poem and the illo are very nice and funny, as usual.

Your illustration and poem - I love them both. I love them once, I love them twice, I love them more than beans and rice:> Have a wonderful day...with love!

One is a herpetological scale conditioner, one is an herbal aftershave lotion, and the other is a cure-all (almost)I make myself and sell to the local health food stores. Too funny that you mentioned me in your post without even knowing it! *wink*

    Big Love!

  • [With apologies to Kevin Nealon]
Great illustration. I [love] was thinking of [love] going this direction [love], except mine was [love] going to be [love] a skeleton. Hey [love], I notice you [love] used a water [love] texture on your [love] illo. I don't [love] think I've seen [love] this before.

    By Blogger IdiotHead, at 23:31

  • .....blub blub blub
    Went Lefty the Gambler
    sinking slowly toward the bottom
    like a little yellow sub
Little Orange Roughie paused briefly nearby
Wiggled his little fin and bubbled a sigh
Oh what a waste, I can't understand why
    someone would go swimming
wearing such a fine striped tie.....

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 19:38

  • I love you so much I'll write you a love letter....

There are twenty six,you can take your pick.... from A to Z, filled with love from me...

Poor lefty was left at the bottom of the sea, much worse than getting left at the alter, don't you think?

    By Blogger LDahl, at 21:24

  • Well the deadline for two for one has come and gone, no matter, i'll just have to accept that I suppose, besides lefty is the one who's important here. I hope there is some kind of rescue in the works. I would LOL but is much too solomn and sad occasion with the fate of Lefty in the balance to do so.

    Late love.

    By Blogger HARDWAX, at 09:13

  • Did I miss the offer? Ah,'s some love anyway!

Ps: Love the 'I'm-still-trying-to-figure-out-how-I-ended-up-in-this=predicament' expression on Lefty's face :)
